Cute. Adorable. Teeny tiny. Aguila’s Minishell 12 Gauge ammunition has been called every name in the book. But when push comes to shove, this ammo is still effective for home defense and hunting. It even offers distinct performance advantages!

Make no mistake: this shell is weaker than average. Its muzzle velocity isn’t abnormally low at 1,200 fps, although its shot column is remarkably light at 5/8 ounces. Its four pellets of #1 buck and seven pellets of #4 buck can only strike a close-range target with approximately 800 ft lbs of kinetic energy.

But that’s still a lot of energy, relatively speaking, and it is easier to direct toward the target in rapid succession when you’re experiencing such gentle recoil. The round’s appreciably softer report also helps preserve your hearing, especially when you’re firing indoors without ear protection. And because a Minishell is only 1-3/4” long, you can fit nearly twice as many rounds into a pump-action shotgun’s magazine.

This ammo doesn’t cycle semi-automatics. It also may not cycle through a pump-action if the shotgun doesn’t have an adapter that is specially designed for that purpose.
