This 12 Gauge shell by Federal is loaded with a one ounce Hydra-Shok hollow point slug. Federal designed the projectile to pass the FBI test protocol with flying colors, so if you must ever count on it you can expect the ideal amounts of both penetration and expansion for personal protection as defined by those in the know. This is a powerful slug that’s intended for active police duty, but it has become quite popular in the private market and is in no way unfit for deer-related activities, either.Expect a ripping fast 1,300 fps muzzle velocity when you fire this slug, but do not expect to be knocked over by a tremendous amount of resultant recoil. Federal’s shells always include the sensitive primers and fast burning propellant charges you should expect from reliable ammo, so you’re in good hands however you’d implement this potent load. This shell’s hull is an attractive shade of blue. That not only makes it easier to identify at a glance (you wouldn’t want to take this round woodcock hunting), but will very nicely match your eyes if they also happen to be blue.
