Low-recoil 12 Gauge ammunition is excellent for home defense. Granted, it doesn’t hit its target as hard, but even a weaker 12ga #1 buckshot shell is equipped to transfer several hundred foot-pounds of kinetic energy to a target at close range. A shell that doesn’t kick as hard also causes less muzzle flip, which makes it quicker and easier to line up crucial follow-up shots.

This ammunition is manufactured in Missouri by Fiocchi, an Italian-owned company that has over a century of experience in the ammo manufacturing department. Each shell is packed with nine pellets of #1 buck (approximately 0.83 ounces), which burst from the muzzle at a modest velocity of 1,150 fps. The 3/10” diameter pellets are protected against deformation by their shiny nickel plating. In addition to promoting a narrower spread, nickel plating also promotes deeper penetration of the target – a useful advantage whether you’re hunting or defending.

Take care that low-recoil ammunition generates less chamber pressure. That’s only to say that this ammo may fail to reliably cycle a semi-automatic shotgun. If you’re firing a pump-action, break-action or lever-action shotgun, then this ammo’s 2-1/2 dram equivalent will not impact functionality in the slightest.
