This cartridge is loaded with a 40 grain lead round nose. That’s a relatively simple (and non-expanding) projectile, but the bullet’s design itself is only part of the reason for its exceptional accuracy. Because this round is only capable of pushing its bullet to a subsonic 1,085 fps muzzle velocity, it completely avoids transonic destabilization. A bullet which can’t pick up a wobble is destined follow a predictable trajectory!

There’s another great perk to firing subsonic 22 LR: less noise! This ammo can’t issue a cracking report because it can’t break the sound barrier.
