“Silent but deadly.” It’s a phrase usually associated with something unpleasant -- but it doesn’t have to be. This 22 LR cartridge from CCI’s Quiet-22 line of ammunition certainly is silent, as its 710 fps muzzle velocity is several hundred fps slower than what it would take to shatter the sound barrier. With 75 less perceived noise you won’t even require hearing protection! It’s still accurate nevertheless, making this a satisfying target shooting round. Do note that this round’s lesser chamber pressure may not give a semi-auto the juice it needs to cycle on its own.

It’s this round’s 40 grain bullet that makes it deadly (to varmints, of course). As a segmented hollow point, the bullet actually breaks apart into discrete sections during penetration to deliver three separate wound channels. The bullet is also copper plated so as to lessen how rapidly it can foul a weapon’s bore.
