Very few 22 LR cartridges are designed specifically for self-defense. If you carry a subcompact 22 LR handgun for protection, then you don’t want to miss your opportunity to stock up on Federal’s Punch label ammunition!Unlike most handgun ammo for self-defense, this round’s bullet is not engineered to expand as it penetrates soft tissue. The 22 LR often isn’t powerful enough to tunnel all the way to the threat’s vital organs, so this round’s 29 grain nickel-plated flat nose bullet avoids any kind of expansion that could cause it to get stuck at too shallow a depth to effectively neutralize a human-sized target.
This cartridge is loaded to deliver an extremely fast muzzle velocity when fired from a 2” barrel: 1,070 fps. At that rate the non-expanding bullet receives the energy it needs to pierce deeply into soft tissue, and its broad meplat does inflict slightly more trauma than a round nose is capable of. With good aim this round’s bullet becomes quite potent force for personal protection!
Federal loads this ammo with corrosion resistant nickel-plated brass cases. Sleek nickel also reduces metal-on-metal friction, which promotes more reliable extraction in semi-autos. This ammo is suitable for all semi-automatic firearms, and will achieve a muzzle velocity of 1,650 fps in conjunction with a 24” barrel.

Posted onAs of yet no one has stepped up to help test the effectiveness of this as a good self defense round.
As for the unwanted pests around the farm, it is quite effective. Shoots good with no hang ups. Love it in my TX22........ ammoman always has the right stuff and ships FAST!
