About This Hornady 223 Remington Ammunition

This 223 Rem cartridge from Hornady’s Critical Defense line of ammunition features a 73 grain FTX, a bullet optimized for personal protection. It’s an accurate bullet thanks to its concentric jacket, uniform core, and ballistically efficient secant ogive profile. It’s a bullet that expands reliably, as its soft Flex Tip shields its hollow point nose cavity from obstructing with fabric and other debris before initiating massive expansion during penetration. This FTX is able to burrow especially deeply owing to its relatively heavier weight, as well as the InterLock ring which mechanically fastens its one-piece core and heavy jacket together.

This round’s clean burning propellant is treated to reduce the amount of muzzle flash it produces when ignited, so firing in the dark won’t immediately blind you. Its brass casing’s nickel plating makes the round itself better visible in the dark, and furthermore promotes effortless cycling in a semi-automatic in addition to corrosion resistance.
