223 REM HORNADY FRONTIER 55 GRAIN FMJ (50 ROUNDS)
Rome wasn’t built in a day. Likewise, no competent marksman became that way overnight. If you’re keen on learning how to wield a 5.56/223 rifle like a pro (or at least like you’re not some sort of doofus who just learned the difference between a clip and a magazine), then Hornady Frontier has you covered front and back.Or maybe you’ll just use this ammo for fast-paced plinking, without actually learning anything in the process. Don’t worry! That’s cool too.
This ammo was loaded for Hornady by the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. The U.S. Armed Forces’ primary small arms ammo supplier gives each round a new brass case (it’s only discolored because it wasn’t shined up after it was annealed), as well as a corrosion-free Boxer primer.
Hornady did make this ammo’s bullets, however, which is good because Hornady makes good bullets. The meticulously standardized full metal jacket projectiles contain lead cores beneath their nonmagnetic copper-alloy jackets, and have cannelures to keep them from shifting out of the case mouth during recoil. Hornady recorded the 55 grain bullet’s 3,240 fps muzzle velocity and 0.243 G1 ballistic coefficient with the aid of a 24” long test barrel.
