223 REM HORNADY FRONTIER 68 GRAIN BTHP MATCH (500 ROUNDS)
Hornady’s Frontier line of ammunition is loaded at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, whose products any veteran is surely well familiar with. But this 223 Rem round’s bullet is an example of the Nebraskan specialist’s own fine work. The 68 grain BTHP Match is like a long-distance surgical instrument! The BTHP Match’s narrow meplat, secant ogive profile and long boat tail all help it to produce as little in-flight drag as possible. Its streamlined profile also complements the BTHP Match’s concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process jacket and evenly distributed swaged lead core as it remains well-balanced in flight.
Note that this round’s bullet, although a hollow point, is not designed to expand as it penetrates soft tissues. Also note that a heavier 68 grain bullet exhibits its best accuracy in conjunction with a 1:8 twist barrel (although you can certainly make do with a slightly faster or slower twist).
This round’s nonmagnetic projectile is seated within a new production heat-treated brass case, and is propelled by a carefully matched military-grade Boxer primer and charge of clean-burning powder.
