About This Lake City 223 Remington Ammunition

If it gets any better than that, we don’t want to know about it!This ammo was produced at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, MO. If you haven’t heard of Lake City before, then you might already have rightly assumed that their primary function is supplying ammo to the United States Armed Forces. Looks like they have enough 223 Rem for the time being, because Lake City made this new production non-milsurp ammo available to the commercial market. That’s how we got our hands on it!
This is really normal ammo – precisely the kind of stuff Americans love unleashing at the range. Each cartridge is loaded with a carefully standardized 55 grain full metal jacket projectile: nonmagnetic, and non-expanding. Each round also features a noncorrosive Boxer primer, as well as a newly manufactured reloadable brass case.
Newer shooters often ask us if this ammo’s cases were previously fired and reloaded. Not so! They just weren’t polished after they were annealed, which is Lake City’s way of showing they were made correctly. The discoloration has zero impact on performance or reloadability.
