223 REM WOLF MILITARY CLASSIC 62 GRAIN FMJ (20 ROUNDS)
The 223 Rem is a quintessentially American rifle cartridge. Why, then, would you want 223 Rem ammo by Wolf that hails from frosty Russia? Why, for the fantastic savings of course! This round shaves costs down without sacrificing performance through the power of steel. Its shell casing is made out of the economical metal, and furthermore treated with unmelting polymer to help it feed and extract more easily in a semi-automatic firearm. Its bullet contains drastically less copper than a traditional FMJ thanks to its bimetal jacket – steel on the inside for the strength that prevents deformation, copper on the outside to protect a barrel’s riflings. At 62 grains, this round’s bullet offers ballistic performance comparable to that of the Army’s ball M855.
Caveats come with this affordable ammunition. A steel casing is not suited for reloading, as it doesn’t return to its original dimensions once fired and furthermore has two flash holes instead of a more manageable single, centered flash hole. What’s more, many ranges ban magnetic projectiles for their tendency to create sparks.
This round’s Berdan primer functions indistinguishably from the Boxer that is more common in America, and is every bit as non-corrosive as well.
