There’s a time and a place for very loud gunfire. But when you want your 300 AAC Blackout rifle to issue the quietest reports possible, you’ve got to select good subsonic ammunition. Winchester has made exactly that for you right here. This ammo will perfectly complement the use of a suppressor!

A 200 grain bullet is heavy for the 300 BLK. Winchester does load this round with a full-powered charge of propellant, so it will generate enough chamber pressure to cycle a semi-automatic. That said, the 200 grain bullet will fail to become faster than the speed of sound before it exits the muzzle. That’s why it can’t create a little sonic boom!

A subsonic round offers better accuracy, as its bullet cannot become destabilized while its velocity becomes lower than the speed of sound. This round’s open tip bullet promotes even better accuracy courtesy of its flat base, concentric copper alloy jacket and form-fitted lead core. But just a word to the wise: The open tip will not expand while penetrating soft tissue.

This round’s bullet has a fully jacketed base. Unlike an FMJ, the open tip’s core is protected against hot propellant gasses, which has the nice advantage of dramatically reducing barrel and suppressor fouling. Brass-cased, reloadable, and American-made as always!
