About This Winchester 300 AAC Blackout Ammunition
What an amazing coincidence! Winchester made this 300 AAC Blackout subsonic ammunition for gentlemen of exquisite taste – and here you are, reading this very sentence. The circumstances are too fortuitous for you to not order several boxes of Super-X range loads! This is exactly the kind of ammo you need for a suppressed rifle. No suppressor? No problemo. You’re still going to appreciate mighty quiet performance while you’re firing these rounds’ 200 grain projectiles, which are way too inert to break the sound barrier. Speed of sound is 1,125 fps (give or take depending on atmospheric conditions). This round’s posted muzzle velocity is 1,060 fps!
The open tip is an excellent bullet for suppressors. Like a TMJ or BEB, the base of the open tip’s lead core is shielded by copper. Hot ignition can’t burn lead off the open tip, which translates to a cleaner (A) barrel, (B) suppressor, and (C) training environment. The open tip is not like a JHP, however. It doesn’t expand, and its thinner jacket doesn’t equip it for very deep penetration, either. That’s only to say you should choose something else for whitetail hunting.
