This shell wallops its target with a 1/4-ounce rifled slug. That’s about 109 grains of lead, which at 1,542 fps MV equals 500+ ft lbs striking energy at close range. If you slip one of these slugs inside a vermin or predator, then it’s pretty much a guaranteed lights-out.

The slug’s rifled surface does not help it stabilize. Instead, it just ensures the slug can safely compress as it passes through a choke. The slug will not undergo any expansion or very much deformation to speak of; that and its lower striking power make it a less-than-ideal selection for whitetail.
