The combination of a hot +P load and a light bullet produces muzzle velocities significantly higher than a standard-pressure cartridge firing a conventional 230 grain projectile can hope to achieve, compensating for the .45 Auto's deficiencies in penetration and speed compared to other cartridges while still taking full advantage of the bullet's large diameter. These rounds use non-corrosive Boxer primers and reloadable nickel-plated brass cases.
