About This Australian Defense Industries 5.56x45mm Ammunition
Cheese and wine. Beer and pretzels. AR-15 rifles and Australian-made 5.56x45 ammunition. These are all perfect pairings!This 5.56x45 ammo comes from the Land Down Under. It’s the same stuff which Australian Defense Industries produces for their nation’s military, and it is identical to America’s own M855 cartridge with one small exception: It doesn’t have green paint on its tip.
The F1 projectile is indistinguishable from a regular FMJ on the outside. At 62 grains it is most accurate when fired from a 1:9 or 1:8 twist barrel (although 1:7 is by all means acceptable). Like the M855, the F1 bullet features a steel tip beneath its jacket. This does two important things: It helps the bullet penetrate tough obstacles including 1/8” sheet metal, and it makes the bullet magnetic. Be careful about which ranges you take this ammo to!
Aussies load their ammo just like Americans do, with factory fresh brass cases and non-corrosive Boxer primers. The brass is quite clearly annealed, so you can count on it to return to its original dimensions like any good handloading component should.
ADI packages this ammo loose in a new steel ammo can. It’s every bit as high-quality as America’s M2A1, with a rubber gasket to prevent corrosion and a collapsible carry handle for easy transport to the range.

Posted onupdate, after switching my red dot scope to a 1-8 sig scope I was very pleased to see my groups shrink.
This ammo is very accurate . I had several groups of 5/8 inch at 100 yards. the worst groupe was 2 inches. my fault!. this out of a budget rifle 1/7 twist. so I bought another box of this stuff. -
clean burning , shoots very well in my 1/7 twist ar. will buy again.

Posted onI have shot 90 rounds from this case so far, but have had zero issues or malfunctions as of yet. Order shipped quickly and arrived on time/when it was expected. I am prior Active Duty, currently in the National Guard and plan to use these rounds to brush up on marksmanship between range days. So far they shoot flawlessly, with no inconsistency/unpredictability in flight out to 300yds. Definitely worth the extra fee dollars to have a round thats as well as both an everyday round and a range-day paper poker.
The fact that it comes in an ammo can is just that little extra cherry on top. I do wish the plastic bags the rounds are in would have been vacuum sealed and a little thicker, for long term storage. But that is an extremely minor gripe that doesn't really effect the over-all value of the purchase.
I do recommend these rounds, so far. I will update if anything changes. -
