This cartridge is loaded with a 55 grain FMJBT projectile, earning it the same M193 designation as the U.S. Army’s standard ball M16A1 ammo. With its nearly Mach 3 muzzle velocity out of a 20” barrel, such a bullet will remain supersonic well past 500 yards and only drop about 50” when zeroed in at 100. This bullet’s tapered base measurably decreases the drag it creates while in flight, enabling it to retain a greater amount of its velocity as it hones in on a target far downrange. While this bullet’s FMJ doesn’t permit terminal expansion, it would still leave an exceedingly nasty sting if you had to implement it for personal protection.
