The Swedish 6.5x55mm cartridge is an extremely popular choice for big game hunting, and has been helping to mount trophies on walls for over a century. Sellier & Bellot, a premium ammunition supplier based in the Czech Republic, uses their roughly two centuries of experience to help you get the best modern performance out of your hunting rifle.

Sellier & Bellot uses nothing but the finest components and as such, each of the 20 rounds are assembled from reloadable brass casings fitted with non-corrosive Boxer primers. The 131 grain soft point bullet has a copper jacket on most of its body to reduce lead fouling in the barrel. Only the head of the bullet, which is curved for better feeding and flight, has exposed lead that provides devastating expansion on impact with a target. Soft point bullets typically penetrate deeper than hollow-point ammunition while still staying inside most big game and minimizing collateral damage.

Using a 23.5 inch test barrel, Sellier & Bellot clocks the 131 grain soft point bullet leaving the muzzle at 2,602 feet per second with a whopping 1,970 foot-pounds of energy. After a drop of five inches at two hundred yards, the round will still deliver up to 1,299 foot-pounds of energy.
