It’s awesome if you’re having a devil of a time finding steel-cased 7.62x39 since the government banned its import from Russia in 2021. This ammo is loaded with steel cases – significantly cheaper than the conventional brass variety – which are coated in polymer to help them cycle more efficiently and ward off corrosion. The cases are loaded with Berdan primers: completely noncorrosive.

Word to the wise: even if this ammo didn’t have Berdan primers, its steel cases would still make it virtually impossible to handload.

Most Russian steel-cased ammo has bimetal-jacketed bullets, which will attract a magnet. But this ammo’s American-made 123 grain full metal jacket projectiles? Steel-free brass jackets and lead cores which can’t attract a magnet. Very nice!
